About the Role:

The mission of Accounting Engineering team is to ensure timely, comprehensive, and accurate financial reporting while helping business expansion. We work with Remitly's accountants and support them by automating the accounting month-end close processes. As a member of the Accounting Engineering team you will learn the basics of accounting and use it to manage the processing and aggregation of the whole volume of our customer transactions. You will use Go and develop database queries on daily basis.

Your constant challenge will be to codify complex accounting requirements in performant and manageable way. You will work for an already established, distributed team, reporting to Engineering Manager based in Poland. We understand the value of face-to-face interactions and aim to see each other every quarter (the role is remote from Poland, with occasional travel).

You Will:

  • Implement new features and maintain existing systems,

  • Lead other engineers, conduct code reviews and provide feedback,

  • Set and follow the standard for delivering well-tested, observable, documented, efficient, scalable, and resilient code,

  • Become an expert with tools and programming languages, engineering processes used within the team in a scalable cloud-based architecture,

  • Work with the Product Manager and other partners to understand the requirements,

  • Write technical specification and participate in design reviews,

  • Participate in scrum meetings, break requirements to stories, provide estimates,

  • Assist the Accounting team in troubleshooting and provide tech guidance,

  • Support the Accounting team during the month-end close through rotating on-call schedule,

  • Interview and ramp new hires.

You Have:

  • A BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience,

  • 7+ years of professional experience,

  • Proficient in Go and another general purpose language like Java, Kotlin, C#,

  • Proficiency in an RDBMS like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server, bonus point for experience managing big data,
