Requirements

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Japan-based accounting team. Opportunities for growth extend beyond conventional roles to include Financial Planning & Analysis, Investor Relations, corporate system development, and specialized tax accounting. Additionally, prospects for broader corporate administration responsibilities in Singapore and potential new markets are available. Your contributions will be integral to our continued global expansion and financial robustness.

Role and Responsibilities

• Daily and Financial accounting work for Smartnews, Inc. and its subsidiaries.
• Contribute to the financial closing processes for Smartnews, Inc. and its subsidiaries on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Assist in the preparation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) based consolidated financial statements.
• Support the creation of quarterly and annual disclosure documents, such as securities reports and financial statements, equivalent to those prepared by listed companies.
• Correspondence to accounting audits and tax audits
• As the owner of the project, work with team members to examine and promote the efficiency and sophistication of accounting operations. (e.g, consider the introduction of a new system, etc.)
• Considering globalization from the accounting and tax point of view

Required experience/skills

• 5+ years of experience in managing quarterly and annual settlement operations in the accounting department of a listed company or similar experience as a CPA/CTA in a professional firm

• Language skill - Business level English and Fluent Japanese

Nice to have experience/skills

• Experience in creating consolidated financial statements and disclosure materials
• Have IFRS knowledge or experience
• Have knowledge or experience in global tax
• Experience in creating consolidated financial statements and disclosure materials
• Work experience at an internet service operating company
• Work experience at a venture company
